Mike McCormick
Originally from the Midwest, Mike graduated
from University of Kansas School of Law in 1985 and began
practicing in Kansas City in the courts of both Missouri and
Kansas, before his firm opened its Houston office in 1989.
During his tenure with McCormick, Hancock and Newton, he has
tried lawsuits on a broad range of topics in venues throughout
the state. Mike takes special pride in the Texas Bar Foundation
and its influence on the perceptions of the legal profession,
our strong ethical commitments and professional discourse
and responsibility.
Under the theory that an ounce of prevention
is worth a pound of cure, Mike regularly conducts seminars
for clients on such topics as tort reform, employer/employee
relationships, indemnity among contractors and their subcontractors,
risk management, insurance bad faith and other contractual
responsibilities of carriers to their insureds and negotiation
strategies and tactics.
Mike and his wife Linda, a scientist in the
pharmaceutical industry, are the parents of five children,
three dogs and a cat. Mike is a rabid sports fan and is actively
involved in his church, various little leagues and conservation
organizations such as Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever and
Quail Unlimited. Mike and his children regularly compete in
waterski tournaments and the entire family enjoys snow skiing
and other outdoor pursuits.
